"The Little Artist" – watercolor portrait of the Nub

Filed under: abstract painting, child portrait, daughter, watercolor painting — laurenmaurerartworks @ 1:11 pm
I posted a photo of my daughter on Facebook, and my friend and blogger buddy, Alisa, said, “you should paint that picture!”, and I said “YOU should paint that picture!”…. so we both painted it! I in watercolor and she in pastel! Throughout the painting process, we emailed our progress back and forth to get each others feedback, and that was so great.
I love so many things about this picture, the light, her intent expression, the little pinky in the air, the paint on her fingers…. I love it. She is such a great little kid, beautiful and kind, and a great little artist!

  3. So what you're saying is that she's a chip off the ol' block! She's blessed to have so many of your characteristics and I can tell she just adores you with her wanting to be just like you! I think you should paint your little angel more often!

  8. Oh my goodness, this painting is so beautiful! I have a great picture of my 3 yr old granddaughter wearing a child's chef hat and apron while stirring up a batch of cookies. I've done some watercolor but never a portrait. You've given me the inspiration and courage to try painting this picture. You are so talented. I am so impressed that you are a self-taught artist. You certainly have a special gift.I'm going to become a follower so I can continue to be inspired by you.Lee Ann
