Lowcountry Steeple

Filed under: church, landscape, lowcountry, watercolor painting — laurenmaurerartworks @ 1:17 pm

This is my first go at painting on soft press paper, and I loved it. It is a cross between hot press and cold press…. so I guess it is warm press?? I’ve always really painted on cold press… and sometimes rough, so this was really different, in a nice way.

  2. This is beautiful, Lauren. Clicking on the image to see the full size view with detail is lovely. i noticed a very subtle and smooth texture. What about the new paper type is it that you find you enjoy! Beautiful work as always.

  3. Wonderfully painted! The negative space of the building gives it your signature "clean" look. Really lovely!

  5. Thanks, everyone! Gary, I liked a lot of things about this paper. It stayed wet in a little different way then cold press- it was wetter for longer, which made for some really pretty soft edges without getting runny and muddy, but where I needed to have a starker edge, when I waited for it to dry the smoothness of the paper did really well. Thanks again, everybody!
